Tomorrow is the Day

Tomorrow is the day I'm going to start the Maker's Diet for Weight Loss. I shared with you that one of my goals for the year is to get back on track with eating a more nourishing diet. I'll be sharing our journey to nourishing food sometime this month but the reason that I like this "diet" is because I don't feel like it's much of a diet as much as it is getting me back on track with eating the way I want to eat. What I mean by that is getting off of sugar, refined carbs, processed foods and instead eating full fat dairy, grass fed meat and poultry as well as a lot of fruits and vegetables. Yes you read that right, I eat full fat dairy.

The main thing I'll be starting tomorrow is no sugar, no bread, cereal, oatmeal, no cow's milk, no white flour or processed foods. I will be doing this for the next month until I start the second phase of the diet which is less restrictive. The main purpose of Phase One which is the next month is to stabilize blood sugar levels, reduce inflammation, enhance digestion, and balance hormone levels in the body. I'm hoping that this will help to reset my body since it's been through so much in the last year with being pregnant. I will also start taking my daily cod liver oil as well.

You can pray for me as I am sure the next week is going to be hard as my body adjusts to not having sugar. I know it will be worth it though. I did this diet a year a go and not only did I lose weight but I felt the best I've felt in years.

If you are interested in knowing more about this philosophy of eating Nina Planck has written a great book called Real Food which is a great read and easy to understand.

  1. Good luck, Hanni! Sounds like a great plan. We work hard to eat very little processed food and a lot of whole grains, but no sugar sounds like a death sentence to me. If there is one thing I would never want to give up, it's sweets! ;) I know it would be better for me though. You go girl!
